Dadimadi Ghrutham is said in Ashtanga Hridaya pandu roga chikitsa, and it can be used from anaemia to infertility. It is also given as a part of Antenatal care. It is nourishing and also cure indigestion. It improves condition of pregnancy related anaemia.

  • It is Moodavatanulomana (clears obstruction of vayu)

METHOD OF PREPARATION

The drugs like dadima, dhanyaka, chitraka, nagara and pippali are taken in specified quantity and made into fine paste, this is then mixed with specified quantity of water and ghee taken a suitable vessel. This is cooked in mild fire till the paste becomes a stage when it is possible to roll into a wick shape. The ghee is filtered and collected.

 PippaliBalances vata kapha vitiation. It improves digestion, anti-ageing, rejuvinative, good in respiratory disease, cough, fever, diabetes, abdominal tumours, and haemorrhoids.

DOSAGE:

Usually the ghee is given in a quantity of 5 to 10 ml, considering the patient and disease. For oleation therapy the dose is selected considering the digestive capacity of the patient.

The adjuvent is usually hot water or rice gruel and given before food.   

EXERCISE AND YOGA

Exercise can be selected which is suitable to the disease for which the ghee is given.   The postures include,

Sooryanamaskara

Bhujangasana

Merudandasana

Vajrasana

Padmasana

Anuloma viloma pranayama

PATHYA AHARAS AND VIHARAS

The congenial food and regimen are selected according to the disease. Usually it is desirable to avoid hot, spicy, dry foods which are difficulty to digest. Always take foods which are warm. Cold and reheated foods are to be avoided. Day sleep, night awakening, more exertion are to be avoided.

CONTRAINDICATED CONDITIONS

No contraindications are generally said. But the patients with hypertension, dyslipidaemia should take routine follow ups. If taken as part ante natal care doctor’s advice should be taken.

SIDE EFFECTS

No side effects are noticed..
